Description

Sam Stone came home, To his wife and family After serving in the conflict overseas. And the time that he served, Had shattered all his nerves, And left a little shrapnel in his knee. But the morphine eased the pain, And the grass grew round his brain, And gave him all the confidence he lacked, With a Purple Heart and a monkey on his back. Excerpt from Sam Stone by John Prine. a tribute to fallen brothers who found another way to fall. better in zoom.

Pretty sad state of affairs, isn't it Seth? This is a wonderful image for the song and in a sense a dedi to these poor souls.

Excellent render. Haven't heard John Prine in a long time. My Dad used to take us to his concerts when he came into Chicago.

how much can the human psyche take without damage? Those damaged fighters as well as the civilians left hungry, homeless and with familiy missing or injured on both sides of a war are the real loosers not any government with their petty greed for another castle or the 200th fancy car, dressing up as "liberators" or "defenders" of human rights... Great atmosphere and setting!

well Seth very good render about a very sad story that repeats itself through the ages aside from the physical wounds the mental wounds of watching the carnage and also know you have taken someone else's everything (life) haunts forever!

Wow...this is amazing! The moody shadowed feel of this picture exactly mirrors the emotion of the song. This figure lost in despair and retreating into darkness reflects the very real reality of what happens to the fallen--the sometimes forgotten--as well as the fractured families left in the wake of that despair. This is a very moving piece, excellently done. OXOXOXOX Jane
