Description
Daz Studio 4 advanced using Reality 2 by Pret-a-3D. I used the Reality fog prop included with the plugin. 4 mesh lights placed in the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions to illuminate the windows. I was trying for a grainy effect as if I were using a film camera in low light and I had pushed the film speed up to an extreme setting. Lights were standard Reality mesh lights set to 20% power. Using the Lux Film Response tool I pushed the film speed up to 1600. Reality and Lux render did the rest.

This is a neat creation!

Way to go for a nice fog prop creation! Your round windows are due to an effect that Lux has with various displacement maps. Its an easy fix. Either lower the value to almost nil, or what I do, is take the map out altogether. The grainy effect actually compliments this one well! I don't recall who did this set (dzfire?) as I went with a stonemason warehouse, but check in the textures for alpha maps for the windows. Fog looks utterly fantastic coming through windows with alpha maps. If not, they aren't terrible difficult to make from a standard texture.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I appreciate them. Thanks also to superboomturbo for that information on the windows. I have been going in circles trying to figure that out. I would never have thought of that fix. I will follow your suggestions and re-submit my scene. Many thanks for the help. BTW, you are correct. DzFire did create this model. I also have the Stonemason warehouse. Both are favorites of mine. My original plan was to have only the light rays with the grainy effect. And keep the shadows grain free. Most of us have been in an old, unlit building with sunlight streaming in in from the windows and the dust in the air visible in the rays of light. However I was not able to recreate the effect in Lux. I tried a similar effect in PS but it just didn't look right either.

Though I believe this being grainy gives this that extra appeal as if when looking in this warehouse this is how it should look IMO....Excellent Work !
