-------------- The Clones – Omyryndra
The lieutenant stepped out of the darkness of the night, into the pale light from the oil lamps in front of the fort’s small tavern. There was a heavy fog tonight and coming off of watch and heading for the tavern was something he’d been looking forward to for hours. With the end of the Three Wars, it was widely agreed around the world that Arrallon would slide comfortably back into a long, slow period of peace. That made a border post such as Fort Condrite a boring assignment. Just now, the Lieutenant could use a little excitement in his life. The little wood elf waiting by the front door with a goblet of wine seemed like a good place to start. He should have been careful what he wished for.
Mother needed her agents to go everywhere, not just the continent of Callona and the western UnderDark. She needed a spy, an assassin, an agent that could go anywhere, fool anyone, get into any place and infiltrate any organization. The design of this particular clone had to be very carefully approached. Mother started with her own genes, as usual, and added those of the True Hermaphrodites. But that wasn’t enough. She further tweaked the shapeshifting abilities until the creature she finally grew in a maturation chamber was nothing more than a puddle of oozing goo. It took almost ten years before the thing known as Omyryndra could assume its first form. It was another sixty years before her skills and powers were fully manifested. That was over forty years ago.
Omyryndra had traveled the world since then, using her magics to fit in here and there, to communicate without being seen as a spellcaster, to execute Mother’s tasks and missions as a lone operative. She didn’t keep too much in her head at any one time, unlike her bookworm sister Elvyrrae. She learned what she needed, when she needed it, and forgot it afterwards. She was expert in infiltration of both the Drovik and Splinter Kingdom Drow, but could just as easily slip into a Sylvisan tree village, a human port, or a Dwarven cavern city. She could also slip under a door, leak through a window sill crack, or sit in the corner as a bar stool. She could literally be the fly on the wall. And she could just as easily turn into a five hundred foot grand elder dragon, city destroying fiery breath weapon and all. Mother was never so proud.
