The sun was behind Victor in this shot and because I was shooting into it (albeit at an angle), I had to add a fair amount of fill light from the front to get some nice detail in the rocks and the front of his body.
To do this, I had a Canon 580 EX II flash head in a 2 meter strip box at camera left.
Once I found an even spot to put the light, it was just a question of adjusting and testing to see what angle worked best.
