Description
A group of Elasmotherium are on the menu for some happy neanderthals in the interglacial splender of Plestiocene Provence.
Although we think of the Ice Age has being one long period of intense winter, there were interglacial periods when the Glaciers retreated and the climate warmed up again. During these periods megafauna in the shape of diverse species of mammalian life were in abundance. Until we came along.
This whole Plestiocene lasted 2.5 million years in total and was the formative period for human evolution. The Neanderthals are not so much our ancestors, more of another branch of the hominid tree than us. This excellent figure is from Midnight.
Elasmotherium were a species of giant rhinoceros which sported immense horns. It is thought they were the cause of unicorn myths
