Description

The dawn patrol had been uneventful, when suddenly the two Sopwith Camels found themsleves in an unusual area.... Just a bit of fun, inspired by finding Death Star greeble blocks here: http://www.scifi3d.com/details.asp?intGenreID=11&intCatID=52&key=756 These were imported into Carrara (from the OBJs) using the option to have different named areas as different objects. This gives you 16 blocks, which should be edited to crease edges over 50 degrees, and then placed in a grid replicator. I duplicated each block so that there were four of each in 90 degree rotations for more variation. The Sopwith Camel some may recognise as one of the models that I talk through making in the Advanced Carrara video tutorials that I did, published by Infinite Skills and available from Daz and elsewhere. Thanks for looking - I hope you enjoy! Phil

Very clever and creative use of the props. Those aren't the Sopwith Camels you're looking for ... move along.

Looks amazing - cute idea and clever use of Carrara and the props - I'll try to track down your tutorials because Im just learning C 8.5Pro now (with some difficulty!) Just a suggestion, is to somehow get a curvature onto the death-star block arrangement to suggest the underlying sphere shape - so that the distant ends curve away and give even more dramatic and convincing perspective.
