Description
Paint chips falling like snow
Flower beds that trimmed the house
Are long gone
And that old pickup
That use to sit in front of the garage
Who knows where it has gone
You can tell someone new has moved in
Someone who doesn’t love that place
The way Harry did
I was feeling a little crazy tonight so I went on a little walk. On this walk I went by this old house that Harry Turner use to live in. who is Harry? I am glad you ask. When I was 16 I got a after school job cleaning up at a food dehydration plant. Harry was the janitor who was about 70 years old and Harry filled the soda machines. I would get there about 10 minutes early everyday and sit inside the lunch room and wait until time to start work. Everyday Harry would come in and fill the soda machine when he knew I was in there and he would drop a can of root beer and say oops that can is dented I can’t sale it now you might as well have it you pott licker. He always called me a pott licker. Now Harry’s wife’s name was Bessy. She was a real sweetheart too. Years later Lizzi and I would go by their house when we would go walking and she would always wave hi and ask Lizzi how her mom was because she knew her mom. The funny thing is she always called Lizzi Mary Jane which is actually Lizzi’s moms name but Lizzi never corrected her. She would just always just say she is doing fine. Harry and Bessy are long gone now but they are not forgotten. Someday I may write about Carl who use to save his desert for me and Hank who had the key to the cookie drawer. Lol. Those are all true stories too. Life was good back then
