Be careful putting that in the same pocket as your iphone, it has issues with crashing. Beautiful realistic, the thumb imprint just makes it that little more special. It looks like a very well done macro photograph, which make the fact that its ·D all the more awesome!

Thanks, but a small confession. It was originally entirely 3d but I couldn't modify a skin texture to a high enough resolution so I had to match POV and comp in the source fingertip anyway. I'll be really happy when skins can be made to that level of detail in the future.

I wonder if you actually paid every time you use it!

Nice. I sometimes teach classes in nanotechnology. Maybe I should use this image as an example. It is not difficult to make a high rez fingertip texture. Put your finger on your scanner, press scan, make it black and white and you have a bump map for fingerprints.

Yeah, and now try to get that fingertip map onto a standard DAZ model texture size without losing any detail. You would need a 40,000 by 40,000 pixel texture for the limbs. The only way was to model a partial fingertip so that it could use the whole texture and even then it just looked fake. The compositing actually looks better. By the way I would get a real kick out of this being used for education ;)
