Description

On my recent walk at the local wetlands I came across this Black-necked stilt and it's nest. There are a lot of these birds there, and I have always wanted to get some good photos of them. But they are rather skittish and stay a good distance from the waters edge. Making it tough from my 300mm zoom to get a worth while shot. But since they build their nests close to the water edge I have an opportunity now. This nest has 4 eggs under that bird butt and I will be keeping an eye on it for next couple weeks to come. Hoping I can catch a shot of the babies when they hatch. Thanks for looking. -Bruce

Very interesting... do they build those nests on the water or are they exposed rocks they build on? I would think the tide would be a problem if that was the case. The back view with the look over the shoulder is priceless.
