Description
Also referred to as The Palace of Westminster, this place is the home of the government of the United Kingdom. The Mother of Parliaments.
For ceremonial reasons, the building is still listed as a royal residence and, indeed, it was the primary residence of Kings and Queens from the eleventh century to 1512 when fire destroyed much of the complex.
After this time, the rebuilt palace was used as the home of Parliament, which had been meeting there since the thirteenth century. The Royal Courts of Justice were also based in and around Westminster Hall.
The current building was erected in the nineteenth century after an even greater fire destroyed the Houses of Parliament in 1834.

I have seen this many times when visiting London but never actually walked past it and viewed it close up until about a month ago. I was amazed how beautiful it is and the gold area's looked as if they had recently been painted. an excellent shot
