Description

Thank you for stopping for a closer look. Any and all comments are welcome and appreciated. These ravens are truly amazing birds. Please do not confuse them with crows. They look like a crow but are 5 to 6 times larger than a crow. They are like a crow on steroids. When we lived in southern Manitoba we never saw any of these. But up north where we are now they are in abundance. Shortly after Glenda and I moved up here we had been grocery shopping, the bags of grocerys were in the back of my pick up truck. We stopped at another store for about 10 minutes. When we got back out to the truck, a raven had stolen a large package of porkchops out of the truck and tore them apart. The Raven holds a special place in the hearts of the first nations people's cultural beliefs. Jim

Lovely photo of a powerful bird. It seems that they are revered by many peoples and have a wealth of mythology attached to them.

Such interesting story and shot, Jim. I like the attitude of the (big) bird (Big Brother, LOL). Also I like the textures it's sitting on. A great capture. And about our 44 years, by the way: I had a dream long ago, that I was married to Karel in one of my previous lives too :D. So I don't know exact how many years THAT will be together LOL.

Awesome photo of this scavenger and raider. He looks so bold and unnerved by you and your camera. The dump is overrun with these creatures on these hot, muggy and smelly grounds, happy I didn't go on this run with you. Hehehehe. Love and Hugs.

Very neat shot. And funny tale about the pork chops. I'm glad to see in our area they are making a comeback, there were a few years when not a one was to be seen due to the West Nile Virus.

Living just a couple miles from the wetlands/marsh we see a variety of birds on a daily basis in hour back 40. Since 2005 a few have frequented our area..They are huge and look like crows but know the difference...That had to be a site to with them thieving your groceries...One great capture here Jim!
