Description

Back from vacation and it was great fun except for the no laptop rule. I will never do that again. I did take an introduction to FaceBook class one night and I am certainly not ready for social networking yet. LOL! This photo was taken, a few years ago, in the Cypress Swamp section, of the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge (147,392 acres - about 596 square KMs), west of Boynton Beach, Florida. Crustose Lichen, like all lichens, is the cross between alga and fungus. My camera also died and is out to be checked and cleaned. I do not know if there are any salvageable photos in there yet. You might have heard my screams. I will start catching up on comments tonight! It is worth a zoom! Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Welcome, Dana. I,m sorry for your camera, I hope you can save it!Some of these electronic devices refuse to die without a fight. My son left a USB in his pants. These were washed, dried and ironed, and the USB survived.

Dana this is a great capture. I noticed that we are facebook friends now, but don't hold your breath as to me making comments on this site. It seems to me that they encourage you to make friends with just about anybody (it doesn't mean you Dana). But if one isn't careful one winds up with hundreds of friends. I don't have that many friends, and I don't want that many. The people I consider my friends I either see in person, talk to them on the phone, and maybe on this site. I don't feel save disclosing too many details on facebook.

Wow, lichen is strange enough even without it being snow white, Dana. Great snap, and welcome back from up north. Sorry about your camera woes, and can hardly wait for you to start commenting again. Oh, and Facebook is a trap.

That would be hard for me to do, but perhaps I should. Hope your camera is okay! There are worse things around than FaceBook, and it does work well for some things. You must learn to ignore lots of it, and be selective in accepting friend requests because you will wind up reading much of their trivia. Let me know when you are on FB and I'll send you a FR, LOL!

Looks like old crusty paint. Mother nature is so creative in the varied ways she makes these fungi and lichens. Wonderful to find yet another I've never seen. :) Thanks.
