Just pretending without really being
(got the post-July 4th blues)
Four verses yell at me as I
look at two lines from each:
"and crown thy good with brotherhood,
from sea to shining sea.
confirm thy soul with self-control,
thy liberty in law.
till all success be nobleness,
and ev'ry gain devine.
and crown thy good with brotherhood,
from sea to shining sea."

temperatures drop
wind brings
smells of rain
hunched over - huddled
in this dry spot, to wait,
mind wanders, as I allow:
~
with steady rain, now
last wet cigarette - "...ever thought
about any real freedoms?
freedom from the opinions
of others...even from
the opinions of yourself?..."
SNAP!
Walter E.'s voice slides away
he now leaves me there,
in the falling rain; to wait.

thought about much as the years went by and continue to be in mind today as to opinions are the judgments of way soceity seems to be or want who can win I do wonder as to freedom I wish it were true warm hugs, Linda
