Description
Captured 7/4/12, early morning, at the outside perimeter of a nearby school.
Substantially ZOOM worthy.
There were at least three ficus/fig trees involved in this effort, which didn't include the one that is of a different kind at the far left in foto #3.
Pozegnanie, thankx for hopping aboard, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

Amazing capture here Harry, if they don't watch it those roots will damage that wall and sidewalk.

Wonderful patterns.

magnus073: I'm no expert, but from what I've seen in different areas and nature centers, it appears ficus/fig roots would rather run parallel to a sidewalk or wall rather than go underneath them, ultimately causing damage.

wow some big roots here.

Ficus do have amazing root systems. I'm really surprised there is not a bit of damage visible. Not all Ficus roots are so well behaved. Great collage here.

What amazingly vigorous root systems these trees have! I love the veiny patterns they make, and you did very well spotting and capturing these, Harry!

I am amazed that the wall is still standing straight with these roots around it. Great captures of these amazing roots. I love their shapes.

Amazing fichus roots and collage. Given time they can topple that wall and damage the sidewalk!

Wonderful looking roots systems.. Fine looking trees, nice old age, man with cut them down soon... danapommet says it : the wall is near the roots, even though the trees were there before man will chop down the trees rather than move the wall.. Terrible.. But good shots! Rob

terrific responses here, incl the fate of these trees should they cut into the wall or the sidewalk (although you say that the roots appear to move parallel, which could save the trees from destruction). And I agree with Denise about spotting them and giving them to us. Your eye was ever alive for this series. I can only do 2 of your images tonight (regrettably), but I've seen this series from the 1st, and I love the varieties you've given us. In the 1st and 3d shots---which seem like 'longer' shots---the roots almost appear like stringy vegetables in a soup; and in the other shots, they make the most amazing patterns. The last one almost 'hugs' us, as it bulges out and in again. And you gave us plenty of "stuff" interacting with the roots on the ground; and of course the electrical stuff in shots 1 and 3. Context, reality, these take place in a city...More demonstration that the picture is beneath our noses if we work hard enough to find it and capture it. Whole universes right along your walks...Fine 'finding' and very fine sinewy images. I'll do more next time, it's just so hard for me to get here these days; but I've seen everything and I'll comment as much as I can as I return...
