Greeting To You Custom Car Enthusiasts!
(and of course to those that are just stopping by to say hello)...(smiles)..
Well as promised from last week here is the latest mapping creation of yet another from my customized and modified vehicle folder dealing with my ability in learning how to add mappings/skins/images to a variety of transportation that I've chosen for your viewing pleasure...(smiles)....
This is to date my best and most exciting results in dealing with this form of textures/mapping/skins as I progress further along with this latest endeavor.
Not every model that I choose has the ability to get the mapping correct as with some they come in separate pieces which takes more patience and hours of twisting/turning/calculating to achieve the results I've been getting.
For example if the model I'm working with can't be (un)grouped into individual parts then it makes for an almost hassle free mapping but for me it takes the fun out of creating one....in other words too easy...(I like things complicated because it makes me use my imagination more)But when they can be separated then you have a hood/door/fender/roof/trunk lid for example that each has to be manipulated separately to achieve the correct mapping and can be most challenging to say the least..
And that is why I said that this has been my most challenging to date with this series and let me just say that this is only going to get better from here as I dwell deeper and look for more challenging models to customize and modify.
I really impressed myself that I got this particular model to look the way it did and from start to finish it has taken me about 40 hours of my time trying to get it to look the way I was able to get it.As I've stated before...
My opinion isn't what matters it's yours that keeps me doing what I do and I hope you really take the time this time and look this over from bumper to bumper because I actually am very proud of myself this time that I achieved this after all the time spent and the learning I had to do to get it to turn out like this. But again that's me....
~Will~
Hope this finds you all in good health and good spirits...See you Friday with the latest from the Fractal Factory!

Neet car!

Your work on this is outstanding Will! I have always loved the flame paintjobs on hotrods, and this is an awesome example.

This simply ROCKS, Will! Just fantastic work, Bro! After taking just a few tenative baby steps into mapping, I can understand what you're saying - and this is masterful! I've tried mapping a few things in Hexagon, but every time I try to export the item as an obj or 3ds file Hex has a tizzy fit and crashes. I've pretty much given up on it, and am now trying to learn Blender (in the few moments I have in between going 17 directions at once..).

A stunning creation. This car looks fabulous with its amazing paint job. It looks so sleek and it really would turn heads as it cruised down the road. You have made an outstanding job of getting the pattern in just the right places. A delight to see.

Well done Will....Very ZZ Top....good skills and yes mapping is a challenge. Dunno about ZBrush being simple. Took me ages to get to grips with it and am still learning. For what I do it suits me. Other three D progs I find too involved and not able to give me what I want. Each person to their own tools eh! What you do is bloody clever mate!

Spiffy car model, as we just had the "Cooly Rocks" festival, with Rockers, Greasers and all their immaculate Hot-rods, I can say this looks very authentic, well done ! But IMHO the mapping looks wrong to me, as any car with flames on it, start at the front and fade off to the back, not sideways as you have presented it here. I would rotate the maps 90 degrees to solve this, which I know you can do easily in Bryce, just a mere suggestion. ~Cheers~

Always Cool To See A Flamed Hot Rod, Nice Shade Of Red To Use As A Base, Great Presentation Showing Many Differant Angels, I Have Just Finished A 65 Pontiac GTO, Also Flamed (Not By Me), Texturing Can Be Fun or Frustrating, Iam Still Playing With Lighting. ;~)
