Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

What a beautiful view this is awesome place to sit and enjoy nature.

Such a wonderful spot to sit and enjoy watching the rain. We have been having very hot and dry for a couple of weeks now, but last evening a giant storm came thru and dropped 4 inches of rain in about 1/2 hour. That is just too much too fast for the ground to handle, so had flooding in a lot of areas. Today is back to hot and humid.

I am expecting to see Mr.D'Arcy coming along that path right now, all wet - how romantic! and I do love that sepia colour Andrea, simply divine ... BB

I'm not enjoying it that's for sure, I grow weary of getting a soaking every day. I will be glad to see the back of it. That said, this is a fine capture depicting the crappy weather.

Stunning capture of this picturesque landscape masked by the rain. Very striking stone wall and carvings.

Enjoy the rain while it last. Water is needed. So yes one gets tired of the rain, but one must also have joy in ones heart. A season is passing and another season is coming. Superb capture Andrea. God Bless.

Stunning image, captured the summer exactly as it is.

Wonderful reflections are on it, and the rain, plus colors makes a fantastic mood here. A lovely shot, Andrea.

Atmospheric.....

I agree very atmospheric we need rain desperately here in Ky...suppose to get 1-3 inches tomorrow... If I didn't have to get out in it.......wouldn't care if it rained all day must be why I am down in my back today I can predict rainy or bad weather a day ahead of time Hugs Susan~

Outstanding, and almost dreamlike, capture of the immaculately manicured vista, Andrea. Well, at least you get some moisture out where you are. All we get here is boring sunshine, no matter the season.

Aaaaah .. how refreshing .. rain! A marvelous spot to sit and enjoy. Of course if the sun has been rare, and the rain constant, then maybe it's not so lovley! We have had truck loads, no ship loads of sun .. and maybe a little more then 30 drops of rain over the last month or two. Sigh. Despite the rain, or mabye because of the rain, it's a wonderful image
jocko500

a mysterious and beautiful, verdant, rain-soaked vision. The railing opens out to a beautiful expanse, the hils feel gentle, and the water on the stone/concrete makes the image shine so gently. All of a single vision, beautiful and inward (because of the hues). I can see why this is a wonderful summer for you. This series has been beautiful, Andrea.

A great look at the expansive lawn and it will be a beautiful green after the rain. Thanks for mentioning the Obelisk - I had not noticed it. I was hung up on the lion bums!
