This is lovely done. I love the kind of ripples in the water, and the mood is great.

I love the softness. Sight brings sound, and I can hear the muted sounds of water dripping in the fog. Beautiful!

I think I understand what you wanted to do here I think it's nearly great. For me the image should be slightly taller and the ratio (top : bottom) needs to be slightly higher. I would say the reflection point needs to be about 120 pixels lower based on 800 pixels height. Also not sure why the figure in the boat doesn't have a reflection when the trees at the same distance away do. hope this helps. It's still a lovely image & very peaceful as others have said :)

"Don't pay the ferryman; Don't even fix a price. Don't pay the ferryman; Until he gets you to the other side!" Those are the lyrics by Chris de Burgh, they came to my mind, when I first saw this image - on closer inspection, I was intrigued by the mysterious illusion you created here, it's mesmerising ... BB

astonishing...astonishing capture of the trees and their many small branches, the way you softened them and made them appear almost 'thoughts' that the branches were having...Beautiful how you captured them on an angle as well. And beautiful how you give this rust-brown tint through parts of the branches, as if the picture were coming at us from some aged image or daguerreotype...Beautiful also how you put such a "wisp" of trees/bushes in the left-side background. And surround it all in that creamy gray (your grays are rarely just grays, they always have many layers of life in them). And then (not finished yet, my friend), your reflections on the bottom: how they seem like ink drawn across milk or cream, or like the heavy oil based paint/ink used on water to create paisley endpapers of books. (Do you know what I'm talking about? Those old endpapers on books, the ones with the paisley patterns on them, for the insides of book covers, etc...If you don't know, they used to be made by placing oil-based inks/paints on water; the inks would float; the artist would then swirl the inks around to create paisleys and other swirling patterns; and you'd place your paper on top the inks---never letting it sink into the water---and you'd get your patterned papers. That's a long way of saying that that's what your reflections remind me of---ie, of patterns swirled into water...) Magical and inward, and yet made with so few elements; and (as is always so amazing in your art) with so few hues. You manage to evoke multiple 'inner' hues with very few outer hues. And your hues are so multi-layered even if there are only a few of them. Beautiful, inward, mysterious, and wholly 'nikolay'. A piece of inner magic.

Very beautiful yet sad atmosphere you created here Nikolais. Could be the framing of the ultimate departure...but that is just me being overwhelmed by the mortal nature of things and creatures. Anyway, this is very expressive and extremely moving.
