Description

I went to a birds of prey show in the next town the other day. The gentleman is a retired game warden who now rehabilitates injured birds for release back into the wild. He has some that couldn't be re-released for various reasons, and this great horned owl was one of them (lost the tips of his wings due to frostbite). In this photo he was demonstrating how the owl camoflages itself in the wild by leaning close to a tree- he representing the "tree". Obviously, this owl trusts him completely... :o)

Oh, that is so cute--and so interesting that owls do that! I guess the owl silhouette is pretty distinctive in a tree and this would hide their outline. A wonderful photo!
