Description
Grosvenor Square is one of those pockets of green spaces which can be found throughout the West End, this one being in the Mayfair area. This square began developement around 1721 and the surrounding buildings have since undergone rebuilds over the centurys.
The statue on the left is a memorial to Franklin D. Roosevelt, While the eagle statue to the right is a monument to the American Eagle Squadron pilots of World War II. On the western side of the square is the United States Embassy (soon to be relocated to Nine Elms) - If you squint hard enough you can vaguely see an American flag just above the tree line on the far left. Also vaguely visible in the pano is a small memorial dedicated to the British victims of the September 11 attacks (eastern end of square).
