Description

The rather unsettled weather when we arrived at Duxford led to some quick shots just in case.Thankfully all the aircraft that were 'new' to me, were parked together. The downside of such shots is the inevitable people in the way.As already reported, the weather did clear up and better individual pics were obtained but I quite like this one. This reminded me of my first visit to Legends, that 'kid in a candy shop feeling' when I didn't know what to photograph first or if there'd be time to get them all....older and wiser now, and a couple more items on the list for next year.... Duxford Flying Legends 2012....thanks for all the continued comments and faves, much appreciated (if not always returned, sorry about that...).

Yep, almost all of this line-up was new, or just cleared again for flight! The 'Pearl Harbor P-40' was cleared, The 'Jug' new this year, the desert P-40, was new.. The Lightning was there last year and the Hawk flew again last year.. But still VERY impressive! And to cap it all a de Havilland Rapide (?) or Dragon in the distance about to take off! Lovely Pana! Definitely a picture that ought to be ZOOMed to fully appreciate. I even saw a couple of aircraft that I hadn't realized were there in the far left background! Nice one, Neil!

Mmmmm..... I understand the title! Just like a little fellow walking into a candy store. I can still feel that feeling of walking into the hobby store in the 1960s and seeing all those models, that very special feeling of "WOW!", which one? Which one? This line-up reminds me of our the bedroom floor in the 1960s - with all my brother's and my planes lined up, but not these particular ones. (We had an Me109, Me 110, FW 190, Me262 together with P51, B17, Supermarine Swift, Hawker Hunter, Glocestar Meteor, etc. all lines up, and fighting each other in the air. It was SUCH fun!) I miss that. So, Neil, thanks for the pano (very well done!) and the nice memories! Looking foreward to more! :-)

Great clarity and color in this panorama of my favorite WWII fighter, the Lockheed P-38 (minus nose machine guns and cannon), what looks like a Brewster Buffalo, a Curtiss P-40, and the monster Republic P-47 Thunderbolt.
