Description

Bryce7Pro/DazStudio/Photoshop Having stood before many fossilized dinosaur remains on display still in the rock they were found in,I would wonder what it would be like if the remains of a dragon would be discovered in a similar manner...that was the starting point for this image. The dragon fossil is the excellent Bone Dragon model from Daz3D,posed and imported through DazStudio.A quick render was made in Bryce, which was then used to create a rough terrain template in Photoshop by adding it as a layer to a medium grey background layer and,by making the dragon pic slightly transparent, using it as a guide to add darker grey areas around the body(in effect carving the rock away). This template(minus the dragon render)was saved, then imported into the terrain editor to create the Bryce terrain.Once placed beneath the skeleton, further carving away and adding to the terrain created the effect of the dragon emerging from the rock. The terrain was textured in a Seriously Real Material. The sun was disabled and a radial light used as the light in the scene.Postwork consisted of a slight noise filter, signature and resizing. Thanks for viewing and any comments!

Really is weird that no dragon bones have ever been recovered...I believe they disappear into the heavens when they die as so no man can possess them....That's my theory...Cool concept here and well done!

This is an awesomely cool idea you have come up with. I am happy to see your efforts come out so good. SUPERB lighting! It really adds to the presence and gives it a captivating mood. I would suggest one thing: I think that the texture of the fossilized skeleton is TOO SMOOTH and too perfect. It looks like the actual skeletal bones rather than the bones being fossilized into minerals and rock.
