Description

Needs a full size view. The companion piece to my previous "Gotham City." Shot looking westwards into Lower Manhattan, the new World Trade Center is seen rising just right of center. The low rise building at seaside far left is South Street Seaport, Pier 17. It is home to many upscale shops and resteraunts. Quite uppity as I understand. What is surreal about this shot, aside from the gothic style postwork? All the reddish tinged buildings up front, the ones less than 20 stories... they are all co-op housing. And even the glass building up front and to the left, the one that looks like a typical office tower, it's a co-op housing complex too! The juxtaposition of this kind of housing onto some of the most expensive real estate in the nation.... well that is just surreal. No? Previous New York

Beautiful capture Roxy... I find places like New York very frightening, just the shear number of people boxed into an area like that. Screams "sitting ducks" to me... And think about all the ones you don't see... those who survive under the city and in the alleys and the old warehouses and abandoned factories, or just in small corners of the streets... rats in the maze. sorry for the rant, love the post work my friend.
