Description

This is the white black bear that only lives in Northwestern British Columbia. They are considered sacred by the Indians. My late husband and I were blessed to see one of them in our travels through their territory and got some photos. Unfortunately, it was on a gravel road, so I 'miraged' my photo of a waterfall and added the bear, making a setting fit for its mystique. This is most excellent, and though bears and coyotes are totally different beasties (I saw a coyote a couple of nights ago, running just in front of me, which is...well...unexpected. It was just a coyote-shaped blur that paused long enough to get an eye-full of me and then dart off in a panic.) Anyway, this reminds me of Coyote, as expressed in Ursula K. LeGuin's excellent story collection: Buffalo Gals and other Stories. As you can see from my various, recent posts, I'm in something of a LeGuin mood. This photo fits that as it possesses serene grace, excellent beauty, and a seamless, perfect migration. I love photomanipulations like this; they're a nice reminder that there are possibilities in life, and all we really have to do is allow our perceptions to express themselves as creatively as they do with Photoshop or the Gimp or any such photo-tweaking program. This is marvelous!
