Description

Species Zelus renardii - Leafhopper Assassin Bug Found this nymph on the same Hibiscus plant I found the last one of these, though that was over 2 years ago. Leaving to start my day I spotted it on a leaf and ran back in to get a container to catch it. Plan on keeping it for a little while to observe it and get some shots. Hoping I can watch it molt and get closer to full adulthood. Has some wonderful colors and markings at this stage. Although it's name suggests it eats Leafhoppers, it isn't restricted to those insects alone for diet. Thanks for looking. -Bruce PS FULL ZOOM for details.

They are natural born killers. I found some here and the only one I saw with a prey I could not capture because of the cam was at home while I was in the woods :( I wait for more shots...
