Description

For Those Who Died...and those who lived through it. As many of you now know, last night a lone man dressed in a bullet proof vest and gas mask entered the Cinema 16 theater in Aurora, Colorado where "The Dark Knight Rises" was opening. He then proceeded to kill 12 people and wounded 59 others in the theater. He was armed with an AR-15 riot shotgun and two Glocks. The perpetrator of this terrible thing was a PhD candidate in Neuroscience, who apparently went off the deep end. He'd quit school after two years and it appears, devoted himself to this pursuit. His apartment is rigged with sophisticated booby-traps and trip-wires and the HazMat teams have to defuse all of this before they can even search for whatever clues may lead to the reasons for this senseless act of violence upon innocent people. "Investigators have described the apartment as being filled with chemicals, trip wires, jars of ammunition and possible mortar rounds." The theater where this happened is about 7 miles from where I live. Some of my grandson's friends were in the theater at the time of the incident, but they all managed to get out without being shot. No doubt they are traumatized greatly. I've not actually spoken with him today, but I'm certainly grateful he and his girlfriend were not there. My grandson left a message on my FB page and said he wants to see Batman very much and has free tickets, but he's not going now or any time soon. Tragedies like this are so very difficult to understand or even comprehend. In some way, the people who do these things are victims themselves of our messed up society - even if it is hard to feel any sympathy for them. I and my family send out heartfelt prayers and condolences to those who died here, those wounded, and those who will forever be traumatized at this event. Words cannot express how deeply disturbing it is. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you will also send out healing thoughts to these victims of this senseless act of violence. You know my take on this matter Ray... I think this is a excellent choice for your tribute.. very emotive and heartfelt. I'm glad your son wasn't in that theater as well... and happy to know his friends got out unharmed. It makes you wonder what is happening to the minds of so many in these times. I'm starting to think they should bring back lobotomies. :(

as soon as I read yesterday morning I got nauseated. the problem is just not the USA, but all over the world. until they can over ride the right to purchase such powerful weapons it will continue. the gun crazy people says then only the crooks will have guns. as far as I know not one of the murderers that has killed so many people of recent times were previously in trouble with the law beautiful render even if it is meant to display disgust

A beautiful tribute, Ray - didn't know you're a Colorado resident, too.. Glad your grandson wasn't there, and that his friends got out OK. The sickening thing is now, the idiot that did this will enter an 'insanity' plea, and will probably have a line of lawyers fighting over the opportunity to represent him - just for the noteriety... Our society - worldwide - really needs a serious overhaul.
