I hadn't originally intended posting this shot as it was dark and, even with flash, there was very little to see.
Even so, I had a little play with it in Photoshop and managed to squeeze some detail out of it.
This is back underground in the sewer tunnels and is a shot of the massive valve mechanism that allows them to seal off the tunnel to the pumps - just like a giant tap valve.
When the tunnel is in daily use, the gates are normally higher than this but they lowered them about half way for us to see them.
This Victorian engineering is certainly impressive. :-)
