Description

At the feeder this afternoon. They never used to use the feeders until a few years ago, and now each generation teaches the next. (The American Robin is in a totally different family, which also contains our Blackbirds and Thrushes.) This is Tizzy 3 on 10X macro zoom..she is very good really. I have just binned the pics on the same setting I took on the much mre modern TZ18, complete rubbish.

So fresh and bright eyed isn't he, if a little ruffled? A Cracking capture of this much loved garden bird, well done! Everynow and then manufacturers get something just right, then they change it and mess it all up - progress!!

This is most definitely not what we'd call a robin in Chicago...and outside of pictures, I've never seen this species of bird: well, not that I am consciously aware of. I have to say that I rather like these. I like that there are two different sorts of birds that can bear the same name and express completely different habits. US-American robins are feast on worms and other assorted grass and garden dwellers, and they often find the most ludicrously large worms to wrangle with. These look a bit more demure, reticent, and overall friendly. And as for this shot: I love the details and the incredibly rich color! This is a beautiful image of a beautiful bird.
