Description

Thank you for stopping for a closer look. Any and all comments are welcome and appreciated. Barrel Racing is always a highlight at any Rodeo event. This is where the ladies get to demonstrate remarkable riding abilities as well as show off some of the best trained horses around. These two pictured here are both remarkable atheltes and spend many many hours to get perfectly in-sync. The course is 3 barrels set up in the ring. The team enters and follows a set course rounding each barrel as fast as they can and then running out of the arena. Speed is paramount, but so is accuracy as there is a 10 second penalty for knocking down a barrel. These gals litterly fly around the course hugging the barrels as tight as possible without touching them. The barrels are made of light plastic, so they tip over easy, and also there is no fear of injuring the horse if they bump them. I will be back to fractals tomorrow, but after a few shots of the fellow's Rodeo events I wanted to be sure folks know that the ladies also are stars of the show. Jim

Cutting horses and barrel racing are team events that always thrill me. I owned a cutting horse years ago and when working him, my job was to hang on and stay in the saddle. Once I indicated a target, the horse was in control... I had a second horse I had hoped to use for barrel racing but she couldn't make the turns tight enough. I never competed in either class, but I loved doing it for fun on weekends. This is an other very polished, professional and visually captivating shots of rodeo. Wonderful!
