Description

Decided it was time to give her a name. Lizzy (named after Lizzie Borden (but spelled like the Metal Muscian) seemed fitting. If you watched her havoc on unsuspecting prey, you would understand... lol Anyway, here she is just relaxing on her perch in the terrarium. I am thinking she may have another molt coming in the next few days. Either way, I think she will be taken back to where I found her in a week or so to live out her last few months in the wild. I was kind of shocked to find they only live for about 9 months. I guess I assumed they lived for a couple years being the size they are and all. Maybe back in the wild she will be able to lay some eggs and carry on her DNA. Keeping her over the last couple weeks and observing her was a real treat. Nothing like see one catch prey live! Hope to get a few more interesting shots before her release. If I do I will share them here for sure. Thanks for looking. B FULL ZOOM is encouraged.

Yes, if you named her for L.B., the name is really well chosen! Mantids are fascinating, are beautiful and deadly at the same time, it's like watching a beautiful fighter plane.

Splendid shot with an interesting effect added by the white dots in the background....looks like stars at night. You only need add a full moon for more "monster" effect.

What a beauty (and for sure a beast in the eyes of their prey). Great result for a F18. Thanks for sharing.
