Melbourne Australia. Best viewed zoooomed. I'd be interested to read your comments as to whether you find the ad effective.

This is interesting: I immediately get what this is supposed to be about, but there's a part of me that refuses to look at modern "message symbols" as anything other than odd, focus-group-designed bits of visual pollution. I guess public service announcements must now compete with advertisements and, thus, become somewhat catchy/brain-sticky in the same way that commercial contaminants do. (This does have to compete with sampoo ads, no doubt.) Anyway, I find that interesting, and I think this could be an effective warning, especially if there is an actual problem with rhinos on skateboards.

Depends if they all look at the sign. Superb capture my friend. God Bless.

I think I'd treat it like a grand photo op! Around here we only see bison on skateboards.

Am afraid I don't even understand it, so can't be offended.

Lived in Melbourne all my life, never seen a rhino on a skateboard. Not sober, anyway.

I bet not one of those people are interested in the sign! Should be a kangaroo.

I fully get what the message is in this posting, the trains are like a rhino on a skateboard in that there is a lot of weight to try and stop in an instant... using two colours that are guarenteed to get your attention and the icon is there to make you stop and think

I think it's briiliant! But then if Steve doesn't get it perhaps some others won't either.

Oh i like this sign and what i think it means is by getting hit by a tram full force is like getting hit by a rhino cause they can do some major damage lol.

must say i didn't find to many rampant Rhinos when i was in Melbourne. As for the signs effectiveness, if your busy looking for Rhinos surely that increases the possibility of being run over by a tram

Great capture.

Although I do get it with some of the help from above comments sadly in this day of people wandering around in a daze texting etc, I doubt the people most at risk will even see the sign. Cool way of getting the message across though.

Don't even know what it means, but great capture!

I Think the most probable a trams run over me while I was trying to decode!

Well, I must agree with Mike, this world where kids and the young wonder around living totally for their mobile and glued to every blink of the screen (even when driving), they wouldn't see this.. But, that said, I don't get it anyway.. Yes, being an adult I understand not to be an arse and stand in front of a moving tram, but kids, and the referance to 'Rhinos'? Well lost me.. Maybe a youth looking at a mobile would have been better? Rob

Danger, watch out for the quiet stealth trams, you thick-skins! LOL there you are easy-peasy ... ;) BB

Cool and original sign!

I was on a tram today looking across at a version of this sign, which was in different languages. One of them is Klingon.

I am glad that you spotted this sign and shared it. I also like the sign and its symbolism. Sort of a takeoff of the old “where is the elephant in the room”. A rhino on a skateboard could do as much damage as a slow moving tram.
