Description
Hosta sp. (family Asparagaceae) are common garden/landscape plants, usually grown as foliage, which ranges from light green to gold-edged green to almost azure--but I love their flowers too. I hadn't heard of hostas until we moved to Arkansas, and my late mother-in-law introduced them to me. Now they are a must-have plant.
This is a view from above, taken in early summer-late spring, an odd time for them to bloom. My plant is not nearly so lovely now, after over a month of temperatures in the 100-110F range*. Even watering is barely keeping my plants alive. (Yes, we are in a nasty drought, why do you ask?)

These are lovely plants. It seems like quite a bit of the country is in a drought. Here too we have not escaped. Hope you get rain soon and that your garden flourishes.

Thanks for the rain well-wishes. We're watering the potted plants every day and the plants in the ground about once a week or so. We've had a bit of rain but not near what is needed. I will have to go up by the spillway to get a pic of how dry that streambed is
