Description
Mrs. Roche's was a commune in the truest sense. Everything was shared. Lodgers would go to the market together and cook together. It was like a frat house or a college dormitory with Ma Roche acting as the house mother, albeit one who enjoyed an occasional whiskey. Where is my toothbrush? In my backpack. "Come, share my diseases," was not my idea of togetherness.
After a week hanging out in Nairobi it was time to leave. I had to catch a ride that would take me on safari.

And we wonder how homeostasis is achieved! This is one of the ways...the transmission of oral bacteria actually provides excellent immune system exercise and there's evidence that kissing developed as a means of acquiring passive immunity to stuff like CMV! Oh, the things you learn when doing research for stories that refuse to be written. This is a gorgeous, colorful shot! And I gotta say that those toothbrushes look like they've done quite a share of the work they were meant to do. This is a great shot.

Oh, no, no NEVER!!!!!! Yuch! Are you sure those were not for scrubbing the floors. I think this shot certainly hits a hot button for most. Colorful lot though. Clever of you to think of taking it.
