Description
The tram stop near my home is 'Trieste', from the name of the street crossing the Corso del Popolo (People's Boulevard)where the tram stop is located. Padova has always been a 'White' town, meaning governed by the Cristian Democracy (as opposite to the 'Red' towns governed by the Communist Party) until the 1990, when a coalition of center-left (present day's Partito Democratico, formed by ex Christian Democrats and ex Communist Party) won the elections and have more or less continually governed the town for twenty years. A popular rumour says that the mayor (a former communist) and the bishop are first cousins. They swear it isn't true, but whether true or not, it's a popular voice which tries to explain why the bishop is the real power behind the mayor's throne.

Religion always seems to get in the way of politics? - no, it simply goes hand in hand! BB

A beautiful street scene and I like Indian food! A very funny narrative Sandra! Over here they say that "politicians make strange bed fellows".

Sandra, while I've been absent I've still seen everything that's gone up, and this series is yet another wholly individual view of the world you see everyday, and it's got a life and presence all its own. You use some very saturated, almost dreamlike hues in this series. And you've also captured city scenes that are both formal and classical, but also filled with many types of life and culture. This is a perfect example. The 'line' of people looking into the commerce in front of them is very rich. It seems there are several nationalities here, several cultures, and a woman in what appears to be a head-dress, holding what appears to be a laptop. The conjunctions are delightful. Across from them you have Indian take out, a DHL place (travel across the globe) and a unisex place. And an array of saturated almost ultra-violet-tinged hues, and a formal sense of line and mass that makes this piece almost abstract. A really fine capture, feeling familiar to you, but also strangely new. And your composition gives it the air of a procession...Fine and magical work.
