.32 Centrefire Extra Short (.32 Protector)
made about 1890 by J Duckworth of Springfield Massachusetts.
Model created in Autodesk Inventor, exported as .stl mesh, converted to .obj in MeshLab.
3D models assembled in DAZ Studio, to be rendered in LuxRender via pret-a-3D Reality.

Thanks guys! I made those models in Autodesk Inventor, and that's a COMPLETELY different kettle of fish when compared to the polygon mesh editors that are commonly used in CG imaging. Never did I expect this to work, but to my amazement it was possible to export .stl mesh files that actually work! In case you're not familiar with engineering-oriented modelers like Inventor: they work with 3D 'solid objects' (not the AutoCad kind), which have very little in common with the vertices and faces that 3D mesh editors produce. Man, am I glad this works! Modeling hard-surface geometry is sooooo much easier with solids than meshes. Organic modeling on the other hand is neigh on impossible with solids, so this way I can have the best of both worlds, Yeehaw!
