This is a lake that is about an hours drive from where I live. It is called Eikesdalsvannet - quite the tounge twister for anyone that isn't norwegian I should think :) This lake is around 10km long, but not quite 1km wide at its widest point - and it's hemmed in by mountains like the one you see in this picture on all sides (except, of course, for the one end where there is a river leading down to a nearby fjord). The mountain in this picture is called Breidfonntind, and is 1736m high - while the lake is at a mere 22m above sea-level, so the surroundings are pretty spectacular I think. I've been up there once, in winter, and standing up there looking down isn't half bad either. Full size view recommended as always.
