UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Wow! What a statement it makes! I remember Tara's photos of parts of this, but until now had no concept of the grand scale.

When I visited this gorgeous place, there were about a dozen wedding parties having their fotos taken in front of the fountain. Must be a local tradition.

Nice shot, Bill, & good to see you back here posting. I remember this fountain well, though it has been many years since I've been to Chicago. Coincidentally, I'm planning to post a photo of the Latona Fountain tomorrow...

Hey, Bill's back! Glad to see you posting again! Hope all's well with you and the work you did turned out nice! While you were away I got 3 little fellows to take care of and raise (you can see them in my latest post, dedicated to krittermom). Now, I don't recall seeing this in Chicago when I was there in summer 1966. I'll have to look it up. As for the photo, it gives an idea of the size, but without a human as a reference, it's difficult to see just how big it is. But, no humans is the whole point - one looses the concept of size completely. I have seen the Versailles original. The fountains there are fantastic, considering the time when they were constructed. In fact, the Versailles fountains could only be turned on for specific occasions due to the need to transport the water a long way, and the need to fill a reservoir with this water in order to run the fountains. Gravity drove the fountains. At the time, they were considered a marvel of engineering. Keep up the good work, and welcome back! :-)

It is great to see a posting from you again and what a beauty it is too. This really is a wonderful fountain and I love how you have set your capture with the city as the backdrop. Excellent clarity too.

Nice! Chicago (like any city) has a distinctive skyline and it's so hard to miss! This is really nice with that squirty thing in the foreground and those tall things in the back, and all of the other Chicago-ness scattered around the place. For as long as I've lived here, I've not gotten that many photos of Buckingham Fountain. Funny how that goes! This is a great shot and it marks a pretty amazing day too! I like this a lot!
