Description

A flight of Rabual-based IJAAF Nakajima Ki43-I "Hayabusa" (Peregrine Falcon) as they might have looked prowling the Bismarck Sea north of New Guinea. The texture is based on the Ki43 in the "Flying Heritage collection" in the US- that one was pulled out of its jungle "garage" on Rabual after the war and restored. Its a wonder that it survived relatively intact considering how vigorously the garrison holding the Rabual "fortress" was kept in check by bombing while the Allies pushed by to liberate the Phillipines. I've used a masked, layered material in Vue to bring out the qualities of the raw metal exposed by the chipped, deteriorating paintwork. Assets Nakajima "Zero" (Poserworks/CP)- re UV-mapped, in Shade I've scratched up machine gun ports in the cowling, the telescopic sight, a scoop for the engine and the correctly-positioned antenna mast.

Nicely done - and I like the detail of the metal spalling. Good job with the aicraft tex too. Really nice work!

Great aircraft model, I like the way you make less common aircraft. Very good work on the texture and the way you've done the 'weathering' is a clever idea. 10/10+ :)

George Lucas would be proud. (For those who don't know, his "Star Wars" series marked the first time in sci-fi film history that space craft and machinery were actually made to look scruffy and well-used.)
