I’ve been a member of Renderosity from around the time this site was started. I began with a different username but dropped out in ’03 during my divorce. I came back in ’04 as Dewdrop.
In the summer of ’97 I was looking for a picture to put on my desktop. I came across a website that had some cool pictures and the website said that they were computer generated. It really caught my curiosity and I wondered if I could do something like this.
I didn’t really pursue it at first, just look at the pretty pictures on the website and wished I could do something like this.
In December of the same year, I got really sick and one day woke up in the hospital to be told I had stage 3 colon cancer. I was only 32. Doctor said it was probably inherited from my Grandmother who died with cancer when I was an infant.
My biggest reason to live were my two little girls but I told myself that if I get through this, I’m going to learn how to do those pictures.Â
On the days between chemo, when I felt like sitting up, I would read and study as much as I could find on the internet about how to make these pictures. I downloaded a trial version of Bryce and began to play. I decided that once I was back on my feet and able to work again, I would purchase this software. By the time that happened, I found Poser and it became my software of choice.Â
Here it is 16 years later and I am cancer free. I believe I’m still here because of God, my family and my love of digital art.
