Description
Loosely taken from the movie; 'The Book of Eli' circa 2010
'Drill for the Republic' was the chant right up until the end. Even as the atmosphere was poisoned, the chant for prosperity went on. The rich and powerful moved to comfortable air purified domes. The poor eeked it out in the choked, polluted cities with the help of state funded breathers that were generously handed out to the workers.
It might not have been so bad for the Dome dwellers except for the 'black sickness'.
It was an equal opportunity killer. Not Dome filtration nor breather filtered it out. In a matter of six months 3/4 of the population was dead.
For those that were left, a long held dream of less government intervention became the reality.There was no government left to intervene. If not killed off by the sickness,raging desperate mobs did the rest. A year into the sickness, the 'Great Dome of the Republic' was looted and burned to the ground. There were no more safe zones, no more havens;only a desolate landscape occupied by those with the strange immunity to the sickness and the will to go on.
Eli was one of those people. A survivalist at his core, Eli finds himself fighting his way through the barren wasteland that now covers a desolate America. After finding what could be the last remaining Bible and hearing a voice calling to him, telling him to take it west, Eli does whatever is necessary to protect the book. He doesn't know why or where the voice will lead him but he does what the voice asked.
