Description

Destroyers have been nick named (among other things) Greyhounds. Sleek and fast they were tasked with protecting the bigger ships. Here two speed by while in the background the biggies go about their own chores. The nearer destroyer is a Benson Class Destroyer. A class of thirty ships these were designed after the Washington Treaties expired. They were slightly larger and heavier than the preceeding classes to take advantage of heavier construction methods to support a new engine room/boiler layout. They and their earlier brothers were heavily involved in most of the surface actions in the Pacific during the early part of the Second World War. The second Destroyer is an early Fletcher class. Called 2100 tonners the Fletchers were designed with all the restrictions of the earlier classes over come. Normally the US Navy placed like destroyers of the same class in the same squadrons. However in the early Pacific campaigns losses of ships made composite squadrons a neccessity. The Cruiser is a New Orleans Class Cruiser and the carrier is Neals USS Enterprise modified by me. Technical note: If I thought researching the vatious New Orleans Cruisers was a pain. I found that the pre war destroyers were worse! It took weeks to figure out which ship had which upgrades. Five turrets, no four, wait..some with two turrets forwars and partial or no turrets aft (just the guns) radars, AA guns, portholes covered/not covered, one anchor, no two. ARGGGH!!! One destroyer had three cammo schemes in an 18 month period. Great fun!!! All ships (and planes) done in Wings 3D. Rendered in Vue 7I (are they up to Vue 10?) Comments critisisms and all that kind of stuff are welcome. I know, I know, no girls, Fairys, Elves,Orges, Dragons or that kind of stuff. But bear with me.

Your realism is the point culminant to the master artists .A lot of presences every where brings that scene like in a film movie . What pleasures we can have in this moment of contemplation .This is a Master memories That make me think at the film (Les canons de Navaronne)=(The Guns of Navarone )((6.5++))

I think your research well worth it and very informative as I love history and the Navy. Please can you tell me how you made the water and also do you have any realistic models of air craft carriers? Bravo! and I remove my hat to you and your art
