Description

A look at some of the ornate towers & chimneys on the roof of the chateau. They are very impressive as an entire grouping, but it was difficult (maybe impossible except from an aircraft) to get a shot of them all together & still retain enough detail - so this view was the best I could do to convey the architecture. One more photo tomorrow (my favorite of the lot) concludes this series from Chambord...

I have some catching up to do, but this is a good place to start. I love this image: the details are stunning and the treatment renders the whole scene somewhat mythic and timeless. The cool color tones are superb as are the angular shapes and sense of grandeur. I love the sheer ornate beauty embodied here; I love life in this day and age, but I wish that humans were ruled by something other than the holy code of convenience and cost-effectiveness. Such things have really put the breaks on this kind of creative expression. We create beautiful things now, to be sure, but I think we've lost whole artistic traditions simply because the need for artisans has shifted away from labor intensive stuff like this. At times, the labor is an art in and of itself, and this structure shows that, despite its other purpose. This is a gorgeous piece of photographic work, in every way as superb as the subject it captures.

I like it. My only suggestion... top left... clone that out somehow? Still a great work.

Someone lent me a PC game called Skyrim. It's frighteningly addictive and contains wonderful graphics that look just like this. Amazing architecture.
