Description

I noticed during the shoot that Ren had the whole Clark Kent thing going with the glasses, so I played on that a little with this shot. I used two Canon Speedlite 580EX II flashes in 2 meter high strip boxes with grids on and colored cellophane to get the pink highlights. As main light I used a Yongnuo YN560 Speedlite flash head in a 60cm square softbox, placed really close to his face. It was above him, pointing down at quite a steep angle. Yeah...Clark Kent was the first thing I noticed in this shot! I like the update: I never actually saw Clark Kent as being nerdy or sufficiently "mild mannered" or whatever: just more like this guy...confident but quiet and willing to blend into the background, not to protect his Superman identity, but simple being aware that he IS Superman and, thus, has no real reason to be shy and mild mannered, just quiet and beyond the need to make a big deal out of anything. Well...that's my take on Clark Kent as he should be portrayed. I mean...c'mon...if you're a super hero and you need to protect your identity, somehow, then the geek/nerd stereotype is gonna blow your cover since SO MANY superheroes put on nerd-drag. This works much better! As always: Excellent.
