Description

Hope you are all well friends. Its a while since I've posted. This summer has been hectic. Drove all round France with the family and the Oz in-laws which a great deal of fun, from Mirabelles and Calvados in the north to Cathars in the south via the world's maddest round-about (Arc de Triomphe de l'toile) and the capital of food (Lyon). Not forgetting Roquefort -oh how cheap it is there (the cheese that is)! I'll try and catch up as best I can, but forgive me if its a slow process. This little pickie was taken at Dungeness the other week. Martin

Does the name Dungeness suggest this was once a crabbing boat?? Great find!

a very clear photo Martin! a sad ending to what was once a proud vessel. I hope that MollyRose was treated better than the boat that was named after her!!! not often that I get to comment right after my son!

A marvellous example of lapstraking! Too bad it could not be maintained. The prop still looks perfect and I'm surprised it is still there on an apparent derelict; that prop would likely be worth $500 or more. Oh, it's not often I get to comment right after the two Danas!

What a lovely boat this was! This superb photo captures something of the desolation that is often felt there.

Wonderful capture! We have a Dungeness here as well (Washington State, USA), which is famous for crabs.

Why didn't you say so, Martin? I could have offered you a drink in Paris! :) I love that boat! Poor MollyRose, set ashore.

Great subject, expertly handled. As for the Roquefort, get yourself to the cheese shop in Hartington, Derbyshire and get some Bertelin Blue (or order some online...). If you like soft blue cheese I think you will like this; it blew my socks off!
