Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.
For those looking at my gallery, enjoy it and feel free to leave comments and sitemail! Good day to all!

A truly amazing and incredible accomplishment for one whose adult life lasts about a week... Cool shot, Chip!

Did you know we don't have them here? Dolphins and otters, yes, but no cicadas. Perhaps that was the inspiration for that controversial rendition. A Little Night Music in the PNW would have to be frogs in order for anyone to hear. And did you know the band Venom had an album of that name in the 1980s? Apparently AnonViii and Mozart and Venom share a common taste in late-night tunage. :D Love the image and the concert liner notes! You rock!

A really gorgeous capture of this insect! Ive recently become quite fascinated with them and their musical tendencies as I couldnt figure out for the life of me what that buzzing noise was when sitting in the garden the last few times. I thought (and this will sound silly) that the electric wires were doing something odd when someone pointed out to me at long last (my epiphany :) ) that this was in fact a cicada! I learned too, that though the buzzing may always seem alike to us, they are actually all different calls to express alarm or attract their mates! Pretty cool stuff and Im glad I got to see what these buggers actually look like now :) Wonderful subject, my Friend and always a pleasure to read your interpretation!

I see is that time again in Chicago, when the little Pavarottis go out and sing. Beautiful music you have by now.

A wonderfully humorous and informative narrative. Excellent capture. You were lucky to get it. I understand cicadas hate the paparazzi.

funny you post this i just saw one the other day out by my garage door...that's where all the sunflowers are and i heard a buzzing noise and loud banging like noises and this bee was attacking this thing...it was much smaller but i think it stung it to death...i didn't have my cam..it was only up against the wall for a few seconds before they fell behind one of my large potted plants...your photograph is beautiful...i love the touch of green and how it plays with the overall reddish hue of the composition...excellent... chills and thrills

I wish we had some of them here - such impressive creatures. They are not as ugly as the first look will show - and they and their family will be here long after the time the humans disappear.
