Description
also known as the writing spider.
this is the spider E. B. White based his character on in his children's book, "Charlotte's Web."
this spider was about 3 inches long; he hung around for about a week.

Used to see these guys all the time when we had our first property. Then the state took it from us so they could extend an expressway a few more miles. Now that area is all paved over, a 4 lane expressway ending nowhere. We found a new place, on a small dirt road, without a single big highway in sight, you'd think there'd be a gazillion of these banded guys around. I've yet to see one at the Hollow. Lots of orb weavers, but no black and yellow banded ones. Great photo of this beauty.
