Description
Captured 8/23/12, early on an overcast morning, about 1.7 miles away and adjacent to a park.
Positively ZOOM worthy.
This is the best POV out of a dozen shots I took of this assortment of five padlocks and the ancillary chain. Ironic that the gate should have so many locks because what it is protecting is nothing more than a long narrow stretch of neglected pavement and tall weeds, all fenced in. Then again, maybe there is something buried there.
Arrivederci, and have a nice day.

Aha! The plot thickens! Interesting collection.

Fabulous photo Harry, this one gave me a smile. I think they could have saved themselves some money by purchasing a longer chain ;)

I just can't figure out the reasoning for attaching all those locks to the chain. If the chain was too short, they simply could have lowered it. Leave it to you to find such a strange but photographic object.

Well they certainly want you to think that this is a very secure place. Very well spotted and it has made me laugh today.

five locks to protect nothing? the rusty weld caught my eye first!

Funny shot, fantastic details and textures.

Wonderful collection of rusty steel! I guess some people just don't want anyone walking on THEIR piece of earth, even if there is nothing on it, go figure. Excellent capture, Harry!

For what you described this gate is protecting it is a funny capture. I can imagine the immense key ring this person owns.Let alone keeping track of all of the keys.

funny point from your son, re the key ring, lol...at least THIS collection uses each padlock on a different set of links (unlike the 8-in-one group where, it seems, all the padlocks connected one set of links only). Yes, it's a terrific pov, and exactly why I chose it tonight. Your angles are very dramatic, they have sweep and plunge; and the chain seems to climb "up" to us, and then down, as if to meet your camera for a pose. How you get this drama from simple padlocks and chains I don't know, but it sure made me hungry to go out and find some with my camera. Very active shot. And that big chunk of steel---top left, ie, the perpendicular bar shooting out of the left-most post---gives a great accent to it all. Another carnival made of padlocks and metal, and I promised myself I'd do some other subject material tonight, but this was so compelling, I just couldn't pass it up. I can only do a couple tonight, Harry, as I'm doing everyone else too. But I'll be back for more, for sure. Your padlock shots are a party for the eye.
