Description

This is the last of this series. Hopefully, I will find the time and a new subject soon. Although I rarely add fake backgrounds to any of my images, on occasion I feel compelled to. Such was the case with this series because the originals had many problems. I had a very difficult time with blown out whites and as a result, I deliberately took very under exposed shots. This meant the images were quite grainy when I finished resetting shadow - mid-tone - and highlight adjustments in the editing process. I also was fighting the problem of too small a subject - too far away - with a lens not up to the task. My 200mm just could not capture details at the distance I was from the subject. This meant the focus was not very sharp. Many of the shots also had very cluttered and distracting backgrounds of 'wall - to - wall' over grown grass and weeds that was in the same focal plane as the bird so I got no blurring of backgrounds like I get with close up bug photos. All in all, I should have just deleted the shots. If the subject had been one I see often I would have done just that - but this was the first time I ever managed to get more than one or two shots of this species. I was determined to salvage something - thus the experiments with new backgrounds. That being said, I am pleased with some of the results despite the poor quality images I was working with. My thanks to those who have taken the time to reply to earlier images. I appreciate it. Lee

Looks like he is pacing along that board, and worrying about something. I know in reality their sharp eyes are always scanning for food.

Such a cute performance of this splendid white one. It looks a bit like a cartoon. A fantastic capture, Lee.
