Description

Needs a full size look - but even then only 33% size of original. I don't often do high key, even though I really love the genre. I just don't seem to shoot right for high key work. I think most of my work is too vibrant. This one turned out to be an exception and I have to admit I quite like the effects. Probably not really high key in the classic sense either in truth. I like this take on New York - it has a feeling of cool aloofniss tinged with a bit of blue vibrancy. It is clean and clear and yet it has a feeling of dark gray forboding. Not drab, but not quite bright either. The threatening clouds kinda help; even New York cannot escape natures furry. It's kinda complicated and I like that in a city. I think this fits New York well.

Tried to comment a few minutes ago but Rendo locked up on me. Seems fine now! Anyway...looking at this just in the regular view, it's all that you say above. However, when you zoom in the city looks dead...soul-less - with the exception of the boats, which makes an interesting contrast. I think it's that the glass all looks dark in the buildings that gives this impression. At least to me. It is a wonderful shot though and a part of the skyline you don't ordinarily see. Great postwork but I'm with you Roxy, I like your more colorful ones better.

Love the capture, but more so the essence of emptiness. The buildings look post apocalyptic. But then again it is betrayed by the people in the boat giving it life. Extremely thought provoking and well delivered. Amazing work and a definite full view must.

What strikes me here is the feeling of emptyness and solitude! A place after mankind is gone... Superb strong work,Roxy!

Seems more like high contrast than high key to me. The classic postcard quality of the cloudy sky & the lighting give this a kind of 1940's or 1950's feel to me. An interesting experiment, Roxy, but it leaves me kind of cold & I much prefer your more vibrant & colorful cityscapes...

I think it's a perfect fit for NY, Roxy! Though I've never been there, and certainly wouldn't care to live there, this definitely makes me want to visit. A great shot, and I absolutely love the postwork you've done on this.

Great capture of NY, Roxy!! The skies and the waves and especially the boat to the left makes it so alive. The city is somehow dragging in you! Excellent!! :o)
