We actually had a 'blue moon' this month. It is the second full moon in a month, and rarely occurs, hence the 'once in a blue moon' saying. Great piece this is!

Excellent work. Love the layered look and the high contrast. She's paying homage to the Labor Day Blue Moon. Does that make the moon a 'blue collar worker'? Ouch. Saturday night some friends and I were having one of those drunk 'what's it mean' discussions and it was about the origin of the term Blue moon. While we know it means two full moons in one month, where did the blue come from. Did someone acknowledge the first realization of two full moons in one cycle when the moon was up during the day? (blue sky and all) Was there some atmospheric phenomenon that coincidentally caused the moon to look blue the first time they realized it? You can imagine the discussion deteriorating quickly from there.
