Description

This is the Hall of Eyes in the Palace of Pealand. At the moment GreanPea is exploring the echoing palace with a lantern, and he has just opened the doors to find The Hall Of Eyes confronting him. All the eyes have just turned to look directly at him.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All my own models, created in Wings3d. Lit, positioned and rendered in Bryce7Pro. This is an attempt at true ambience, and it certainly does add something to the image, but it took 4 days and ate my PC. (a 4 core 64 bit, with Win 7)

Oh well, they aren't anything special, just an elongated radial in each one, with a mid gray for the shadow ambience, and set to 8 for diffuse and specular. Linear fall off, and that's about it. There are 4 other lights active in the scene, 3 set in the centre of the hall, one down the end at 30 diff & spec, two further along - one halfway and one much nearer - both those at 25 diff & spec, pretty normal really. The only interesting light is the last of the 4, which shines onto the 2nd nearest eye, and has an image gel to cast the pattern of blue & green that you see. The even more interesting blues n greens on the nearest eye happened simply because of light in the main room behind the camera falling through the stained glass of the open door to this hall of eyes - which is almost not in shot at all. Odd how the accidental can be much more beautiful than the planned. It's not the lighting inside those lamps that interested me - it was the making of the stained glass textures for those lamps - that was lots of fun! Anyway, I'm glad you liked it.

Great render, Fran. Do you have a lot of nightmares or something. This is one creepy room.
